The
2nd WORLD HEPATITIS B ERADICATION DAY was observed
in the evening on 28 July 2002
at Hotel CROWN, Bhubaneswar. The function was organized
by THE HEPATITIS BERADICATION MISSION of KALINGA GASTROENTEROLOGY
FOUNDATION,Cuttack.
This was inaugurated by
the Hon’ble Health Minister
of Orissa, Sri Debi
Prasad Mishra who praised the Kalinga Gastroenterology
Foundation for the noble cause they had adopted and the
novel way of educating the masses about the silent killer
disease Hepatitis B. He stressed that it was important that
Organisations like the Kalinga Gastroenterology Foundation
should continue the good work of educating the public as
well as the doctors in this field. About 200 physicians,
pediatricians, media persons, eminent citizens and senior
bureaucrats participated in this meet.To encourage people
working in
the
field of Hepatitis B Eradication, the KGF decided to institute
an award every year to persons who have made remarkable
contributions in this field. The Hon’ble Health Minister
Mr Mishra gave the inaugural award
of “KGF Sammana” to journalist Farhat Amin. This
award was given to her by the Kalinga Gastroenterology Foundation
for her tremendous contributions in the field of spreading
awareness about the dreaded Hepatitis B among the poor people
and organizing funds for Hepatitis B vaccination for poor
girls from the lower
socioeconomic
strata during the last one year.
